10 Things to Let Go!


Today's post is simple and to the point. I am at a point in life where I realize in order to maintain peace and sanity in my life I have to learn to let things go. It is a lesson in life that seems easy enough to do, but can be the hardest action to actually complete. If you are facing a difficult point in your life then hopefully this list will prompt you to begin the process of letting it go.


1. Negative energy - This energy can come from a person or situation. It does nothing but bring you down, so let it go.



2. Regrets - Could you have done it different? Possibly. Is it in the past? Yes. Can you change it now? No. Let it go and leave it the past.



3. Comparisons - You were created as you, and only you. There's no you more you-er than you. Get where I am going here? Let go of the comparisons.



4. Guilt - Humans make mistakes. Your mistake has probably been made by millions of other people. If you are reading this then that mistake did not end you. Let go of the guilt.



5. Addiction - This one is not easy and I know that. I have seen addiction come in many forms in others and even myself. My belief is addiction will eventually run it's coarse mentally, emotionally, or physically on a person. Seek help and let it go.



6. Being too comfortable - Tear apart that safety blanket and move forward. Is there a next step in life you want to take? Do it. Is it scary to dive into unknown territory and out of our comfort zone? Yes. Is it worth usually in the end? Yes. However, you will never know if it was worth it or not by remaining in your comfort bubble. Let it go.



7. Overthinking - My thoughts on most things in life are all over the place and can drive me insane. I have to remind myself, let it go and let it be. My advice if you too experience overthinking work on mindfulness. Mindfulness is, "a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique" (Google).



8, Abuse - Mental, physical, or emotional abuse is abuse. Be aware if others are damaging you in any of those areas in your life. It is never acceptable to accept abuse from anyone. Let it go. If you are not reasonably able to let it go, then notify others, if possible, of the abuse.



9. Judgement - I am realizing now more than ever that people are different. We go through different experiences, we are raised different, and our overall life situations are not alike. Putting judgement on others feels good because it may make you feel better. I am guilty of this doing this very action. But at the end of the day does that judgement really do anything? Has it contributed positively to anyones life? The answer is more than likely no. So, let it go.



10. Anger/Resentment - Did someone do you wrong? Don't allow that wrongdoing that was done to you continue to put pain in your life. It's not healthy. Your body senses that anger or resentment and can ruin your life. I too harbour anger from past situations, but I am learning that anger only does me harm. It is hard to do, but release that hurt into forgiveness and remember karma always comes back around. Let it go.



Let all of it go. If it was not on this list and it causes you some type of pain in life, let that go too. Life is too short. If you feel yourself holding in any of that negativity above take a step back and re-read what I have shared above. My hopes for you is to always let it go.
