Get Your Coin Up | My Side Hustle

Your typical 9-5 job is great! It pays the bills, keeps the lights on, and keeps ya fed. However, sometimes you may fall into a time where you just need more, and when I say more, I mean more money. Sure, you can work on your savings, but that isn't always possible for everyone in their differentiating situation. My advice is to find your side hustle!

" A side hustle is a way to make some extra cash that allows you flexibility to pursue what you're most interested in. It can also be your true passion – a chance to delve into fashion, travel or whatever it is you care about the most without quitting your day job," Entrepenuer.com

As long as I can remember I've always had some sort of additional stream of revenue outside of my main job. My first job in high school was working in a restaurant. That money was great to a 16 year old with no bills, but I still wanted a bigger cash flow. So, I would babysit when I wasn't working at the restaurant or find some chores around the house to make a few bucks. I still have that money mentality ingrained into me.

Don't think you can find a side hustle? Well let me help you! Here's 5 side hustles that you can start today!

1. Ride-share - Uber/Lyft

Everyone has either heard of or at least used a type of ride-share application. I have been an Uber driver for about 3 years. I started Lyft about a few months ago. They're both very similar in the way they operate. Ride-share driving has helped out immensely when I has come to needing cash fast. You control your own hours and the amount of money you make solely depends on you. On a decent weekend I can make around $500 easily by just driving the late night bar scene. It can be annoying dealing with overly drunk people but I just concentrate on my monetary goal and keep pushing.

2. Babysitting/Pet Sitter

I've babysat since I was 14 years old and I still continue to do it today. I am sure you know someone who has kids and needs some adult time. Why not offer your services and make some easy money babysitting? Now, if you do not like children skip this advice, go for the pet sitting option! I enjoy babysitting because kids are fun. It also reminds me I am not ready for children of my own yet lol.

3. Seasonal jobs

We are getting into that point of year where seasonal jobs are available. The holiday season is when stores are in need of extra help. Try scoping out the ads online or even visiting one of your favorite stores to see if they're hiring part time. Also, just think of the discounts you could get! My seasonal job for the last couple of years has been doing a paid-internship with the Cincinnati Bengals. I only work game-days but it is a bit of extra cash and I get to experience the game.

4. Scooters

This one is a new money making opportunity that I began this year. You may have seen in your city some electric scooters around your downtown area. Well, someone has to charge those scooters, and that someone is me! The two companies I charge scooters for are Lime and Bird. It is really simple and another quick easy way to make some cash. All I do is pick-up the scooters after 9pm and take them back to my house to charge overnight. There's a bit a more to it than that, but I recommend downloading either application and following the steps. It is straightforward on how to go about doing it. In one night I have made around $80 - $100. Check it out!

5. Online services/selling items online

Now, I have not done either but I am not above doing it should times become real rough. You can google similar articles on side hustles that will lead you to online services, like doing surveys, mystery shopping, reviewing website, and etc. One day I will try those options out but from what I have read if you devote some time to it, the outcome can become pretty lucrative. Selling items online has been around for awhile. There's multiple websites that make it quick and easy for you to off your items for cash. I have not sold anything but I have used Craigslist, Facebook Market, and OfferUp to purchase items in the past. My experience was nice and simple.

Are you strapped for cash or just want a separate stream of cash flow? I suggest trying out some of the suggestions above. If those recommendations are not for you try thinking of something that you are talented at and go from there. Maybe you're good at hair, art, or some type of skill. Try using that as your side money making hustle! Whatever you do, get you coin up!

Let me know in the comments if you do try any of the options above and your experience!
